24h Race Spa: Podium for Black Falcon

Black Falcon was the best of the four Mercedes-AMG customer teams with the near-production SLS AMG GT3 in the 24h race at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. After the race twice around the clock, Kenneth Heyer/Thomas Jäger/Stéphane Lémeret finished third, 10 laps behind the winners. After a total race distance of 545 laps and 3,817 kilometres, this is a gap of only 70 kilometres. British twins David and Godfrey Jones, both 58 years old, also underlined the excellent performance of the gullwing car, improving by 19 positions against strong competition and coming home seventh together with their “junior” partner Mike Jordan, 53.

Mille Miglia 2011 recalls Rudolf Caracciola’s 1931 victory in a Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz Classic will have three of the legendary compressor cars lined up on the starting grid at the 2011 Mille Miglia race: Two Mercedes-Benz cars – an SS model and an SSK model – will commemorate Rudolf Caracciola‘s fabled victory in April 1931 at this year’s exclusive event, which takes place from 11 to 15 May 2011. Back in 1931, with an average speed of 101.1 km/h, the Mercedes-Benz driver along with his co-driver Wilhelm Sebastian was the first non-Italian driver to win the Mille Miglia.

Mercedes C 63 AMG is Safety Car for 2011 DTM season

The new C 63 AMG is being used as the Safety Car for the 2011 DTM season. Following the DTM presentation in Wiesbaden on 10 April 2011, the new Safety Car will make its debut on 1 May 2011 at the opening race of the German Touring Car Masters season at the Hockenheimring in Baden-Württemberg. The V8 Sports Saloon only had to be modified slightly for its demanding DTM task. Responsibility for development and production of the C 63 AMG Safety Car was entrusted to the specialists in the AMG Overall Vehicle Development department and the AMG Performance Studio.

Internet Auto Award 2010: SLS AMG and R-Class emerge as the most

Mercedes-Benz has taken three first places in Europe’s largest public internet survey. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG even scored top honours in two awards, winning both the super sports car and coupé category as well as simultaneously being voted Europe’s most popular car. The Mercedes-Benz R-Class also picked up an Internet Auto Award 2010 as Europe’s most popular van.

This is the ninth time that AutoScout24, Europe’s largest online automobile marketplace offering around 1.8 million vehicles, has conducted an online survey to discover Europe’s most popular cars. More than 230,000 participants from seven countries cast their votes to choose their favourites from among 343 vehicles.
