Two golden steering wheels for Mercedes-Benz.

M-Class and SLK are best in class in 2011 “Golden Steering Wheel” Awards.

No other automotive brand has had more success in the “Golden Steering Wheel” awards than Mercedes-Benz. This year’s Europe-wide vote saw the M-Class and the SLK each win their respective category. These two first places put the Stuttgart-based premium-brand manufacturer at the very top of the “Golden Steering Wheel” all-time winners’ list. Dr. Dieter Zetsche, with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-CELL.

Mercedes-Benz – four new vehicles for the spring of 2011.

Cultivated sportiness is the common feature of the many new models presented by Mercedes-Benz at the first major European motor show of the automobile’s 125 anniversary year. The C-Class Coupe, which celebrates its world premiere, is just as remarkable as the new-generation C-Class sedan and station wagon for its driving fun and outstanding efficiency. In keeping with their sporty character, the new C-Class models were introduced by players from the successful German women’s national soccer team. A further highlight of this year’s “Geneva Salon” is the third iteration of the SLK, which redefines the roadster experience while consuming up to 25 percent less fuel than its predecessor. Making its debut on the eve of the show was the new top-of-the-range version of Mercedes’ bestselling model range – the C 63 AMG, which generates up to 358 kW (487 hp) and consumes around ten percent less fuel. The inventor of the automobile is also presenting the SLS AMG E-CELL, which makes its European motor show debut in Geneva.

The “small” Roadsters from Mercedes-Benz:

Open-top driving pleasure for 55 years.

Orders for the new Mercedes-Benz SLK commenced on 17 January 2011. It will feature a new, exciting design, exceptionally high levels of comfort for a roadster, as well as exquisite technology and no shortage of open-air driving pleasure. As such, the agile sports car already looks set to continue a success story which started back in 1994 with a show car. Strictly speaking, however, the pedigree of the SLK stretches back even further – to the 190 SL, a vehicle which automotive enthusiasts were already dreaming about in 1955 as the economic upturn was starting in the Federal Republic of Germany.
